Buyer decision framework

Which titanium powder grade should you choose?

Start with the drawing or governing material specification. If the grade is not fixed, use the component duty to shortlist a route; the alloy name alone does not qualify a medical device, aerospace part, or printing process.

01

Ti6Al4V Grade 5: structural duty

Review this route for strength-led lightweight parts. Define load, fatigue, heat treatment, and inspection requirements before comparing powder lots; Grade 5 and Grade 23 are not automatic substitutes.

02

Ti6Al4V Grade 23 ELI: controlled interstitials

Use the ELI route when the specification requires it. Request chemistry and interstitial evidence for the offered lot; medical use still requires the applicable process, part, and device qualification.

03

Grade 2: commercially pure titanium

Consider commercially pure titanium for corrosion-led service rather than Ti6Al4V-level strength. Confirm the exact grade, standard, and chemistry; a TA1 designation must not be treated as an automatic Grade 2 equivalent.

04

TA15: program-defined temperature duty

Consider TA15 only against the specified service temperature, loads, and qualified manufacturing route. It is a separate alloy choice, not a general upgrade from Ti6Al4V.

For a first inquiry, send the grade or application, machine/process, required powder cut, quantity, and destination. If a limit is undecided, mark it for technical review instead of assuming compatibility. The grade links above open a prefilled RFQ.
